It never fails to amaze me. Scammers seem to come out of the woodwork at the same time.
I am getting the usual “your email password will expire” at least 10 times a day. Keep in mind, I have my own email server. My password is NOT at risk of expiring.
All of my client Facebook pages are being hit with “your page is going to be deactivated” supposedly from Meta.
And last night I got the same one I get at least once every six months…
It starts with a simple text or email, “Do you offer website design”
No name, no “so-and-so referred me”, no reference to where they found me…all very sketchy.
Also…no punctuation. (This is a big scam red flag)
So the red flags are flying, but I’ll entertain it by sharing my email address.
While he’s emailing, I’m researching.
His phone number brings up this website with LOADS of info on the scam:
https://www.scampulse.com/wcr3ig009gmailcom-reviews
Then I checked the email and this was what I received from ryansc3tt@gmail.com:
Hi
I need you to check out this site as an example website but you’ll create something similar to this www.agroamerica.com
I want it to be only be informational site
so i need you to give me an estimate based on the site i gave you to check out, the estimate should include hosting. I have a private project consultant, he has the text content and the logos for the site.
Note:
1. I want the same number of pages with the example site I gave you to check excluding videos and blogs.
2. I want just English language
3. I don’t have a domain yet but i want the domain name as RyanMyfarm.CO
4. You will be updating the site for me.
5. I have a project consultant that will be providing the images, logos and content for the site
6 My budget is $4000 to $5000
Kindly get back to me with:
(1) Total estimated cost
(2) Do you own the company
(3) Payment option
Thanks
Best Regards,
Ryan (owner).
Hmm…there’s that complete disregard for consistent punctuation again.
I find it funny that they’ve decided to be an LT for this one. I asked some military related questions and got crickets. Oh well. I thought this one would be fun, but I guess not.
If you landed on this page because you also have that number or email contacting you…definitely read the scams that have been associated on the ScamPulse site (linked previously in this post). Definitely don’t send him your bank info, don’t accept money from him, and don’t entertain his attempts to scam you out of your hard earned money!
Also, go ahead and add whatever he sent you to that ScamPulse page. The more reports, the more likely that page shows up when the next victim googles that number or email.
Also also… I’m contacting the domain he’s using to scam folks. It’s very possible they are legit and he’s associating them with his illegal operations without their knowledge. I’ll be happy to provide all of his contact info so they can do what they need to do.
He just contacted me in the same way as well. When I searched his email this page came up at the top so THANK YOU for taking the time to get this out there.
I received the identical text and email. My scam radar was activated, but I entertained the possibility it might be legitimate. I shared my email, thinking it couldn’t cause much harm alone. When I questioned the source of my phone number, there was no response, yet the subsequent email identical to yours. I became certain it was a scam when they asked if I was the owner in the email.
I received an email this morning on January 9, 2024. Upon performing a number and email search, no results were found on number (442)217-7251 but the email image search led me to you. The text and the email contained the same content as yours, with a different website domain name and number. I informed Lt Ryan that I needed 48 hours to review the details after filling out my project questionnaire. However, his email did not fully answer my questions. Thanks for sharing. The AgroAmerica is a legit business so I thought maybe his private consultant worked on that website and needed project assistance for “RyanfreshFarm.net” I thought “.net” was weird unless all the .coms were taken. I will block Ryan now. Thx.
Just today I got the exact same text and email so I found it fishy as well and decided to do some research and got to this page.
Thank you Wendy for informing us about this scambag.
Dangit. Just landed here because I got the same request for a website. I just spent the last 30 minutes putting together a thoughtful response before I stumbled across this. I’m glad my scammer radar was going off. Thankfully, the only thing I got scammed out of was the last 30 minutes of my life.
Same here, exact same request for a website. Glad you guys posted in here.
Oh my gosh – he reached out to me today! I googled his email and your page came up, so THANK YOU!
SAME! UGH! I hate these people!
Same request received today. Thank you for posting this.
Same request received today from LT Scott at ryansc3tt@gmail.com … contact started via text and # 415-624-9441 so he’s switching out phones, but everything else is exactly the same as others here have reported, word for word!
Thanks for the post!
